While many of the bars and clubs in Old City have only opened in recent years, the Khyber is truly an original — the institution dates back to the 19th Century.
Inside, the dark wood bar is a great place to stop by and enjoy a fine local beer on draft (we recommend a Yuengling Lager or a Yards ESA) before or after dinner at one of several amazing restaurants closeby. There's also a great dartboard. But even more so, the Khyber is the place to stop by for live indie music.
The longtime home of Philly's indie rock scenesters, the Khyber features both local acts and national artists. In recent years, the Khyber's small first floor space has hosted the likes of Broken Social Scene, Rye Coalition, Scissor Sisters, Iggy Pop, Pete Yorn and The Hellacopters.
So come for the music and stay for the scene.
